Capital city located in the centre of the country, straddling the banks of the Chao Phraya River and close to the Gulf of Thailand, the greater Bangkok Metropolis (including Thon Buri on the other side of the Chao Phraya River) covers an area of about 1,600 sq. km. Bangkok is adjacent to Pathum Thani on its north, Nonthaburi on its northwest, Chachoengsao on its east, Samut Sakhon on its southwest, and Samut Prakan on its southeast. Area Bangkok has an area of 1,568.737 sq. km.
Climate There are three seasons: rainy (from June to October), hot (from March to May), and cool (from November to February). The annual average temperature is about 29° C with the monthly averages ranging from 35° C in April to 26° C in December. Topography Bangkok is located in the basin of the Chao Phraya River and has no mountains. The land is crisscrossed with canals and rivers. Population 5,695,956 (end Feb 2007) with 2,721,273 males and 2,974,683 females. Most residents are ethnic Thais, with an estimated 25% of Chinese origin. Another large group of inhabitants is of Indian descent.
The total population includes only permanent residents. Administration As the capital of the country, Bangkok is the centre of administration, commerce and communications. The city is divided into 50 districts (khet). Language The standard Thai language is in use. English, a mandatory subject in public schools, is widely spoken and understood in business and tourist areas.

Grand Palace
The Grand Palaceis a complex of buildings in Bangkok, Thailand. It served as the official residence of the king of Thailand from the 18th century to the mid-20th century. After the death of King Ananda Mahidol in the Baromphiman Palace, King Bhumibol moved the official royal residence to Chitralada Palace. Construction of the palace complex began in 1782, during the reign of Rama I.The palace complex sits on the east bank of the Chao Phraya River. The other approaches to the palace are protected by a defensive wall of 1,900 metres in length, which encloses an area of 218,400 square metres. Vimanmek Palace

Vimanmek Palace (Cloud Mansion) is located behind the National Assembly. This palace is believed to be the world largest building made entirely of golden teak.The building was originally constructed on Srichang Island in the Gulf of Siam
by King Rama V ( King Chulalongkorn). In 1901, the building was moved to its present site which was Bangkok suburbs at that time.

The 3 most distinguished temples in Bangkok : Wat Trimitr, the temple of the Golden Buddha - the statue of Buddha is made from solid gold weighting 5.5 tons; Wat Po, the temple of the Reclining Buddha - the largest and oldest in Bangkok; Wat Benchamabopit - the marble temple.
Rose Garden

This popular tourist attraction is 32 kilometers west of Bangkok on Phetkasem Road. Situated by the Tha Chin River, it boasts large, beautiful and well-maintained gardens. In the resort, there is a Thai Cultural Village where an attractive show commences daily at 2.45 p.m. There is for instance, Thai folk dancing, Thai boxing, sword fighting demonstrations, and an elephant show. The resort is open daily from 8.00 a.m.-6.00 p.m.
Samphran Elephant Ground & Zoo
Just only 1 kilometer before the Rose Garden, this 60-acre farm is another interesting attraction housing many different wild animals and thousands of crocodiles. Fascinating performances such as Crocodile Wrestling, Magic Show, and Elephant Theme Show commence everyday at 12.45 p.m. and 2,20 p.m. with additional shows on holidays at 10.30 a.m. This farm is open daily from 8.00 a.m.-5.30p.m.
Damnoen Saduak Floating Market

This popular attraction is some 80 kilometers west of Bangkok, accessible by regular bus from the Southern Bus Terminal. Everyday, hundreds of vendor boats crowd the market area in the early morning till noon. Visitors can also travel around by boat to see local villages, and the way of life of the people in the countryside.
Thai Boxing ( Muay Thai )

Thai hereditary distinguished Art of Fighting known as Muay Thai. Usually fighters have to use their parts of the body to defend such as hands, feet, knees elbows and head, which is known as “Nawa Awut” (Nine weapons). Furthermore, to be the most efficient they need to combine with souls, spirits, incantations, musics, literatures, virtues and manners.
